I went to cover the opening of The Newport Flower show.
This is always a wonderful event~ So many great ideas for weddings and gardens.

Welcome Sandtasia to The Newport Wedding Gallery

Steve Topazio and Dick Huggins met at the Newport Labor Day AIA Sand Castle contest in 2001 and Sandtasia was born. Each recognizing each others talents, the teaming up and the combination of their creative minds was just the logical thing to do. Steve's sister - Jessica DiCostanzo and Dick's son - Richard Huggins II - joined Sandtasia soon after it was formed
Sandtasia has been entertaining people on Rhode Island beaches and special events ever since. In between, they compete as a team when the opportunity arises and in 2004 won the Crane Sand Blast Master division, which is considered the New England championship. Steve says “If it stays together, we can carve it into anything.”

Meet Letterpress and Bookmaker Robert Charlton of Goosefish Press

Robert Charlton is a graduate of Boston University with a BA in English Literature and holds a Post-Baccalaureate certificate from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He is an artist member of the Center for Book Arts in New York, and a member of Boston Book Arts and the Letterpress Guild of New England. He has shown work in galleries across the country. He taught printmaking through the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston's Adult Learning Program and has been a visiting artist at the Museum School, Massachusetts College of Art, Art Institute of Boston, the University of New Hampshire and Endicott College.

Meet Photographer Kim Bova

I have always been drawn to nature, people, music and art. Music and photography have always been passions of mine since I was very young. My father, a professional musician and nature photographer, inspired me to explore my creativity in both art forms.

I felt my heart pulled between music and art, but was compelled when choosing a career to pursue music. The piano led me on an incredible journey that earned me a Masters in Piano from the Eastman School of Music. The camera was always by my side throughout all those years of study, performing and teaching. After the birth of my second child, I began to reexamine how I expressed my creativity. As I was photographing my children and everyone else in my life, my passion for photography was rekindled. As a result, I decided to reinvent myself. As I immersed myself in this art, opportunities came my way to shoot weddings, portraits and headshots. I decided that photographing people and their lives was what I loved doing most! I enrolled myself in the photography program at University of Connecticut and made the transition from concert pianist to professional photographer. I love what I do and have never looked back.

A bride came in to the Newport Wedding Gallery last weekend thinking she could not afford to get married here.

We have some wonderful wedding solutions in Newport RI with a rental fees under $4000. And that is in high season with a water view! Be willing to do some of the vender’s jobs your self, as long as it can be done a head of time.

Ironically, with the smaller guest lists, Im seeing more luxurieous wedding venders being hired. You can have that hand made crystal incrusted invitation when your only buying 25 to 50 if them!

So keep a open and flexible mind to who, what, when,and were for your wedding will be held!
